The urban Ivy is my bachelor project. It is a project and a challenge to give life to a park in Schaerbeek which doesn't really function as one. After a semester of environment analyses and interview I saw the need of its neighbours to have a place where they can come together, a meeting point or a place to hang around. Since the young neighbours are very into sports, I decided to incorporate the latest trend to it; Crossfit. By extracting the different exercise positions during a crossfit session I created an urban furniture, a structure. Crossfit is an intensive training, to sculpt the body. Muscles was an inspiration for the further steps. I stretch cables over the entire construction in different density, with a mixture of white and red cables, which is inspired by the muscle attached to the bone. When you take a seat, the cables will take your shape which symbolises the stretching muscle. It is placed between Canelle restaurant and the fountain, as a start/finish line, to cut the habit to just walk through, and let people mark a stop and enjoy the park.
